Qi Gong for Everyday Life: 6 Week Series
Thursdays, March 30th - May 4th 7:15 - 8:30 PM
(with 8:30-9:00 PM optional open practice)
Qi Gong is a fun and low-impact way to get a good workout while developing power, stability, coordination, flexibility, and ease in both body and mind. Qi Gong movements are also designed to fix the underlying movement and posture problems that lead to aches and pains in the back, neck, shoulders, hips and knees. This is a perfect class for those with or without experience and for folks at all fitness levels.
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, movements, breathing techniques and focused intention. With movements similar to Tai Chi and certain styles of Kung Fu, the Qi Gong set we will learn in this series focuses on restoring the fundamental movement patterns of the body and connecting with the inner strength and vitality that naturally arise when we synchronize our body, breath and mind.
Qi Gong can easily become part of a regular exercise routine, because it can be done anywhere and requires no props or special equipment. Geoff draws from his experience as an acupuncturist and movement specialist to make sure each student gets the most out of their practice and that what you learn will be directly applicable to the physical, mental and emotional challenges in your life.
The course will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:15 - 8:30 PM starting March 30th and ending on May 4th.
8:30 - 9:00 PM is open practice time where you can work on movements and ask questions.
In addition to being a Qi Gong teacher, Geoff is a licensed acupuncturist, meditation teacher and functional movement specialist. For the past decade, Geoff has trained extensively in Qi Gong primarily through the study and practice of Ba Gua Zhang, as well as Tai Chi, Medical Qi Gong and Tibetan Energy Yoga. He is passionate about teaching Qi Gong as an integral part of a healthy life. Geoff enjoys incorporating elements of functional movement assessment and corrective exercise strategies into his qi gong classes so students can achieve the maximum benefit.
