What is Social Meditation?
Social Meditation is a set of practices designed to evoke a culture of authenticity, care and presence, where we practice bringing mindfulness into our interactions with others. We use circle practices and partner activities to explore authentic communication, mindful listening, and the bravery-vulnerability of really showing up in each moment
Who is it for? Anyone interested in exploring meditation, mindful communication and community!
Hosted by Charlottesville Shambhala Meditation Group
Every Tuesday from 7:30 - 9:00 PM
Starting September 12th
Through exploring the practices of Mindfulness Meditation, Social Meditation, and other contemplative exercises, this group supports a community-based path to mindful living.
Presence Lab is an opportunity to authentically connect with other people in the community who are interested in meditation and how it applies to our lives and the complex challenges of the world. It is a gentle, fun and dynamic environment where each person’s inherent wisdom and value is recognized & shared.
The evening will begin with a period of mindfulness meditation led by a trained meditation instructor. Following this, the group will engage in various embodied activities focused on bringing meditative awareness into our interactions with others. The evening concludes with refreshments and time for socializing in a vibrant community atmosphere. Beginners and practitioners of all levels are invited.
The Shambhala Meditation Group of Charlottesville group is part of the global Shambhala community which aspires to awaken kindness, goodness and wisdom within society. The Shambhala vision is rooted in the principle that every human being has a fundamental nature of basic goodness.
